Household gadgets

Household gadgets are available to help you save water. Some are easy to install while others may require a contractor.

NOTE: This is not a complete list of products. The Georgia Environmental Protection Division does not recommend or endorse any of these products.

Indoors

  • Smart Faucet
    Adjust your faucet valves to your preferred temperature settings and leave them in place. Slight pressure on the handle of the Smart Faucet with the back of your hand will dispense water only when you need it, preventing water from washing down the drain.
  • Sinkpositive
    A small sink attached to the top of the toilet runs with the toilet’s clean water refill cycle after each flush. The immediate flow and convenient placement of a running faucet encourages hand washing. Because it turns on and off automatically, it eliminates the touching of faucet handles.
  • Controllable Flush
    The Controllable Flush is an easy-to-install replacement handle for your toilet that gives you the option of how much water to use per flush.
  • Shower Timers
    Digital shower timers are convenient and easy to use. They are real time clocks with an easy-to-use programmable countdown timer. They are battery operated, waterproof and steam proof. The strong suction cup holds to any clean non-porous surface.

Outdoors

  • Drought Buster Easy Connect
    Drought Buster Easy Connect is a simple rainwater harvesting product that utilizes a home gutter system and diverts rain water from a gutter to a hose. It easily attaches to a residential gutter system and waters your yard whenever it rains.
  • RainEscape
    RainEscape is a water collection system installed on decks to actively manage the water that falls on it. For every inch of rainfall, 650 gallons will be collected over a 1,000 square foot surface area. The system keeps floor joists dry, so you don’t have to worry about wood rotting. Lighting and ceiling fans can still be installed through the joist system.
  • Rain Sensor - RSD-BEx
    The Rain Bird RSD Series Rain Sensor is an easy to install, durable and visually pleasing rain shut off device suitable for residential and commercial applications. This high quality product saves water and extends irrigation system life by automatically measuring rainfall and keeping irrigation systems from watering in rainy conditions.
  • ET-6 Controller Series
    The rain shut off / temperature sensor on the ET-6 Controller Series allows the controller to adjust landscape irrigation based on the local temperature and to turn off irrigation when it rains.
  • Irritrol HS Spray Heads
